“They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers.” Acts 2:42 (NABRE)
C4C (Crossroads 4 Christ) is a community of Catholic young adults learning to love and deepen our relationship with Jesus and one another. A “C4C Night” is the starting point of this encounter with Jesus and one another. A C4C Night revolves around one hour of fellowship and formation and one hour of Eucharistic Adoration. The purpose of a C4C Night is to facilitate relationship with Jesus and one another. The goal is to allow opportunity for encounter, to come closer as friends, to grow together as a community, to discover the incredible love God has for each one of us. The time we share is filled with joy and laughter, meaningful conversation, deeper discovery of how God is at work in our lives, and the wonderful gift of time set aside to rest and pray, a time to be still and draw near to Our Lord and receive His love. Through participating in these nights over time, the community grows and authentic friendships develop. We share our faith and better learn what it means to be Catholic and have a relationship with Jesus. We are compelled on mission and filled with the Joy of the Gospel as we learn to witness to the power and goodness of Christ’s love.
The first part of the night is comprised of glory stories, a time to share about how God is at work in our lives. Next, there is a teaching shared through the lens of Intellectual, Spiritual, Relational or Human development, as it relates to the Catholic faith. This is then followed by small-group discussions which allow for personal reflection, sharing and receiving, and growth in relationships with other young adults.
A “Glory Story” is an opportunity to give glory to God for all the many moments He is at work in our lives. Each young adult has an opportunity to share one with the group. They are meant to edify, uplift, and encourage one another to be witnesses to the Gospel in and through their everyday lives.
10 Minute Teaching
A time to grow in our Catholic Faith and learn together through one of the four Pillars of Formation: Intellectual, Relational, Spiritual and Human. Each Pillar provides an opportunity to really encounter some of the richness and depth of our faith. The teaching is based on the Catechism, the Bible, Papal Encyclicals, spiritual reading from various well known Catholic authors, and other Church approved resources.
Small Group Break-out
Small group is a time to discuss and share what was presented in the “10 Minute Teaching” and how it is experienced in our own lives. Small groups are typically 3-4 people. This is a time where we are invited to be authentic and personal in our sharing and really learn to listen to others, so that we may better accompany one another on the journey of Faith.
The second part of the night is Eucharistic adoration. During this portion, young adults have the opportunity to meet Jesus in the Eucharist – to pray to Him and hear His voice, to share their heart with Him, to be still and rest in His presence.
As Catholics, we believe that Jesus is mysteriously but very truly present body, blood, soul, and divinity in the Eucharist. This is a privileged opportunity for us to be close to Jesus, to grow in our relationship with Him, and to receive more deeply about what was shared that night. This hour includes silence and time for personal reflection, while also sometimes including praise and worship music.
Through both parts of the night, young adults are formed through regular encounters with Jesus in the Eucharist and in one another. Through developing strong, Christ-centered friendships, and a deep prayer life, young adults are given the opportunity to become the “missionary disciples” Christ and the Church are calling them to be. The C4C Nights help young adults to become stronger disciples of Jesus – to follow Him in their everyday lives, to receive the sacraments faithfully, to discern their vocation well, to serve others, and to fall more deeply in love with Jesus and His Church. As young adults grow in this love they are compelled to share it with others – to be on mission. Therefore, the C4C Night is meant to be a place where young adults can gather together at the “crossroads” of their lives to meet Jesus and one another, to grow in relationship with Him, and to invite others to do the same. Through regular participation in these nights young adults are inspired by the Holy Spirit to go out to their families, workplaces, and parish communities to actively share and live the Gospel in everyday life and pass on the invitation of being disciples of Jesus to all those they encounter.
